Held in partnership with Software Cornwall and Pool Innovation Centre last Thursday (16th June), Tech South West’s first event in Cornwall hosted some of the best tech talent the South West has on offer.
With over 100 organisations represented, the event brought together some of the region's thriving technology companies and digitally-dedicated individuals for a day of collaboration and discussions about how, together, we can position the South West as a tech hub both nationally and internationally.
A number of organisations also exhibited at the event, held in partnership with Software Cornwall, including Mojo Maritime, Crowdfunder, Mube and Bluefruit Software. Speakers at the event included Ben Whorwood from Mube, Marcus Kern from Crypto Fintech and Wo King from HackIT.
Tech South West
The event was covered by BBC Radio Cornwall and The West Briton, highlighting how Cornwall is a hub for innovation and technology in the South West’s fast-growing tech sector.
Software Cornwall’s Business Connect event also featured heavily in an opinion piece for Western Morning News and the Plymouth Herald by blur Group CEO and Tech South West Chairman, Philip letts, in which he discussed the parallels between the South West and Silicon Valley.
Jon Hogg, CMO of blur Group and Tech South West Ambassador, set out the vision for Tech South West, calling for the region’s tech firms to join forces and give the “powerhouse” South West technology sector a voice. Jon also provided an update on Tech South West’s success since its inception in December last year.
Speaking of the event, Jon said:
“Joining the dots will create a voice and platform for our sector that will allow us to champion the causes that matter to us. Tech South West will help showcase the many successes, be heard at a national and international level, and drive innovation across the sector and the whole region.”
Where to next for Tech South West?
